What are Braces for Adults?
Braces are worn more often by children and teens; however, adults choose to wear them as well. Whether for the first time or to straighten teeth that have shifted since wearing braces earlier in life, adults have become more inclined to perfect their appearance as well as improve their oral health.
How Much Do Braces for Adults Cost?
The cost of adult braces depends on the type of braces to be worn, the issues to be corrected, and how long the treatment process takes to complete. During a complimentary comprehensive exam, we review the costs in detail along with our payment and financing options. In addition to offering in-house financing to those who qualify, we also offer CareCredit® financing. At Savage, Sabol and Visser, we offer orthodontic treatment options for just $99 down and as little as $200 a month. We also accept insurance from those with orthodontic coverage in their policies. We work with most insurance companies to determine your out-of-pocket costs prior to beginning your treatment.
Why Choose Braces for Adults?
Although a nice smile is important, improving the health of your gums and teeth is equally as important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease, bone loss, abnormal wear of the tooth surfaces, headaches, and sometimes jaw joint pain (TMJ). Adult braces correct many issues that can affect someone’s overall health.
How Do Braces for Adults Work?
The new orthodontic techniques and materials we use have greatly reduced the discomfort level, decreased the frequency of visits, shortened the treatment time, and may allow you to choose from several options. Drs. Savage, Sabol & Visser offer traditional metal braces (with colored rubber ties) and translucent (clear) braces to adults wanting to correct their smile.
How Do I Know If Braces for Adults are Right for Me?
With a simple, complimentary initial examination, our doctors can determine if you may benefit from orthodontic treatment, what would be involved, the length of treatment, and the approximate cost, including any insurance benefits you may have to make your treatment more affordable. Our former adult patients all agree that orthodontic treatment was the best investment that they have ever made in themselves.
Braces for Adults FAQs
What are the options for adult braces?
At Savage, Sabol, and Visser, we are proud to offer the following options to adults who are interested in receiving braces:
How long do adults have to wear braces?
The average adult typically wears braces for 18 to 24 months depending on the condition of their teeth and jaws, and their ultimate desired results. To get a more accurate estimate of how long your orthodontic treatment will take, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with our orthodontic team.
How much do braces cost for adults?
While the cost of braces will vary, we generally recommend patients prepare to spend up to $7,000 for their entire orthodontic treatment. Typically, many dental insurance plans will partially cover the cost of braces for adults. For patients who do not have dental insurance or orthodontic coverage, we are happy to offer a range of flexible financing options. These financing options allow our patients to pay for their procedures at their own pace and on their own time.
Is there a difference between braces for adults and braces for teens?
While there is no difference in the equipment and technology used in braces for teens and adults, the orthodontic treatment for adults tends to take slightly longer than with teens. This is because an adult’s jaws and teeth are mature and less pliable than when they were a child or teenager. This causes orthodontic treatment to take slightly longer.
What happens after I get my braces off?
After you get your braces off as an adult, you’ll be required to wear a retainer to maintain the position of your teeth and the alignment of your jaws. This retainer should be worn every night.
