Living with Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign in Virginia Beach, VAAre you considering Invisalign to beautify your smile? Then you might want to know more about what it’s like to live with Invisalign clear aligners. It’s no secret that they are a preferred alternative to braces; Invisalign offers a more natural look, removable aligner trays and a more convenient treatment experience. Still, there are things you should know about life with Invisalign. Let’s take a look below!

Eating with Invisalign Clear Aligners

The first thing to consider is how you will eat and drink with your Invisalign aligners, and it’s one of the most important things to know! The rule is quite simple: do not eat or drink while wearing your aligners. You’ll need to remove your Invisalign trays anytime you eat or drink. The only exception is drinking water, which you can safely drink while wearing your Invisalign aligners. Without removal, you risk damaging or staining your aligners, which can prolong the duration of your treatment and impact your overall treatment experience.

Cleaning Your Invisalign Clear Aligners

Cleaning your Invisalign aligners will keep them free of odor, stains and bacteria. This means you can continue to enjoy the natural look of Invisalign throughout your Invisalign treatment, but only if you clean your aligners properly! To do so, you’ll want to brush your aligners with a soft bristle toothbrush.  Do not use toothpaste as this may scratch the trays and dull their appearance.  You can also soak the trays in denture cleaner or in Invisalign cleaning crystals.  We recommend brushing your aligner trays when you remove your aligners to brush your teeth in the morning or evening.

Your Invisalign Treatment

Perhaps the largest benefit of the Invisalign treatment is the improved treatment experience over alternatives like braces. With Invisalign, you’ll enjoy fewer visits to the orthodontist. Patients no longer have to schedule frequent visits to adjust and tighten braces. Instead, you’ll receive sets of your Invisalign aligners, which you will rotate through according to the instructions provided. As long as you follow the treatment plan, you can enjoy an orthodontic treatment that fits into your lifestyle instead of one that interrupts and inconveniences it.
